Boise State vs Virginia Tech

Both teams will be highly motivated for this game.  The loser of this game will be eliminated from the national championship...the stakes are high!

Intangibles:  Last season Boise St. defeated Oregon the first game of the season.  This was a strong Oregon team that went on the Rose Bowl.  However, Boise played this game at home where they had a huge edge.  Tonights game will be played at a "nuetral" site at Fed Ex field in Landover, Md.  The playing surface will be grass which is also a disadvantage for Boise.  Expect VT to run the ball effectively and gain a major edge from the large VT crowd.

Matchups:  Boise State had major problems stopping Ryan Matthews and the Nevada run game last season.  Look for RB Ryan Williams to run wild tonight and Tyrod Taylor to use his legs to make some big plays.  Boise QB Kellen Moore is experienced will not lose his composure.  He will keep them in the game and give them a solid chance to win.

The Pick:  Virginia Tech is the better team all around.  They will run the ball effectively and do enough on defense to slow the Boise St. offense down.

Welcome! Pittsburgh @ Utah Pick

If you want some quality free picks without the work, you have come to the right place!  I will offer game analysis and picks on a daily basis.  All picks will be researched and documented for your enjoyment.  I would also like to invite you all to include your own picks/analysis.

Let's get started!

Both teams come in to this game with high expectations.  Pittsburgh has been picked in most formats to win the Big East and Utah is looking to bust the BCS party by running the table.  The motivation will be there for both teams as this game can make or break their season.

Intangibles:  Utah is 17-1 @ home in the past 3 years.  The altitude will  have an effect on the game as  Utah has been practicing in this altitude all spring/summer and gains a major edge here.

Matchups:  Pittsburgh is starting 3 new offensive linemen on the interior of their line. Pittsburgh QB  Tino Sunseri will make his first career start.  Look for the veteran Utah defensive line to attack up the middle and disrupt the new QB/OL.  Although Utah is only returning 4 starters on defense, they will take advantage of this weakness and  make life difficult for stud Pittsburgh RB Dion Lewis.

The Utes return 8 starters on offense, however, they will face a strong Pittsburgh DL.  Utah will try to spread out the Pitt defense and make some space for standout Utah RB Eddie Wide.  Utah QB Jordan Wynn picked apart California in the Poinsettia Bowl last year.  Wynn will be confident and poised against this tough defense.

The Pick:  Utah -3
